Beachview Drive

2019

The initial challenge of this project was the shape and elevation changes of the property itself. It is located on a rocky hillside and the property comes to a sharp point at the front. In order to over come these conditions, we had to blast rock and build hundreds of feet of retaining walls. Nestled amongst the retaining walls is a concrete infinity pool that looks as if it is one with Okanagan lake.

As you walk under the covered entry to enter the 5671 sq ft. house that is accented by limestone, hardy panel and stucco; your focus immediately goes to the custom 5’-6” x 9’ pivot door. The next thing you see after entering the foyer, is the floating stair system. 4’-6” wide white oak treads are suspended on a 4” x 12” single aluminum stringer.  This house includes four bedrooms and four and a half baths. One of those baths is only accessible from outside for the pool. Amongst everything, there is two laundry rooms and a pet shower.

To make a house this size easy to operate, a full home control 4 system was installed. With a centralized lighting system, motorized shades, heating and cooling control, security, audio/video with integrated home theatre.
The biggest factor when designing this house was to maximize the 180-degree lake view. We achieved this through pushing the house as far back as it could and the careful window placement which resulted with every room having a view of the lake.
